<VV> Viton O ring life

I installed Vitons on my Corsa in 1983. On several occasions where I had to 
 remove the push rod tubes over the years. I reused them. so far-no leaks.

of  oil leaks.  Over the years I replaced a few other gaskets and  seals.  
Now I have a new fairly big leak.  I get oil smoke coming  out the top 
grill.  How long do Vitons last?   The shelf life  is "Forever".
