Smitty - thanks for saying that.

It's an interesting question ... if you polled 200 people why they didn't
attend, you'd get close to 200 answers, but you'd think there's a common
thread involved when a particular region's attendance is lower than
expected. You may have put your finger on one reason - age. This year's
unusual heat sure didn't help things, but that affected everyone, not just
west coasters.

It could be cultural as well ... many folks in the midwest and east look at
a long road trip as a pleasant adventure, as that is/was part of (or the
point of) many a vacation. Might those out west, specifically California
with their awful traffic, find long road trips something to be endured
instead of enjoyed? Just speculating out loud here.
