I think you're reading this too seriously. If anything, there should be a
comma between inspired and 2.4.
The only thing 'inspired' is the flat air cooled engine concept....and isn't
the corvair 2.7L?

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but weren't Porsches making do with a  
VW-inspired four in '63 and didn't have flat sixes until the 911 which was  
introduced in '65 so, technically, wasn't it the '65 and later Porsches that
had  a 
Corvair-inspired flat six engine and not vice-versa?
