Furthermore at idle the vacuum advance is fully advanced, when
you rev the engine the vacuum advance goes back to a "retard"" original
position as if there was no vacuum. What I have done:

Harry gave pretty good advice. One way or another, you should have No
vacuum being applied at the advance unit at idle. First check the carb tube you
have connected to. (I hope that is the vertical one.) If you are getting
vacuum at the vertical tube at idle, the throttle plate on that carb is too
far open at idle. Have you verified that you have no other idle leaks? Does
the 1960 use a crossover tube? Did you disconnect the throttle linkage
when you balanced the carbs after installation? If you don't, you will be
chasing your tail trying to adjust the idles. The vacuum change you see is
normal -if the vacuum is incorrectly attached. There is a lot of "manifold"
vacuum at idle, that drops off quickly when you open the throttle plate. Be
very careful with the gaskets above and below the spacers, I try to avoid
using them, but I deal with late models, the 60 is probably different. Let
us know what you find.
