Smitty Says;  As Roy asked, What is stock.   That is an outstanding question 
and as I related about the mag fan on a 63, I believe that car was as built 
with the mag fan.  And as I said to the group, I will not argue that there 
never were any chrome air cleaners that somehow came off the assembly line 
on 63s.  I will argue forever that the 63 Spyders were designed to have 
painted air cleaners by engineering and styling etc, and all production cars 
were intended to have them when they came off the line.  They were stock as 
designed.  If you want to argue "original as produced" then that is another 
argument and it has nothing to do with stock.  And again as I said, unless 
some totally reliable source followed the car off the assembly line with a 
chrome aircleaner it can not ever be proven that it came that way.  Overlaps 
in parts production and car production are always possible and weird thing 
happen.  Dealers and stock guys played all kinds of games behind the 
showroom wall.  The best that can be argued that some came off the line with 
chrome, is, "It Has Been Reported that Some" yada yada yada.  Stock is black 
an you can't prove any different.
As for the Boss of BBRT who has unwisely chosen to counter one of my 
opinions, we will take this behind the barn.
