Ray,

The print ads were mainly drawings (not photos of actual cars) in those 
days.  They were drawn in advance (of course) and according to what was 
perceived at the time of the drawing to be what the final product would 
actually be.  It was not uncommon to use those drawings to appear in ads 
even though they did not represent "to a T" the actual final product that 
reached the consumer.  I believe the "picture" of a print ad that you 
provided is just that - a picture of a print ad.  The ad itself was a 
drawing.

So, while you may feel that it is a "data point" in support of black air 
cleaners are stock for '63, I see it as Chevy apparently planned them to be 
stock at some point along the way - and likely at a pre-production point.
