they were a chrome finish slotted...(on my 61). i have several somewhere in
a drawer from parted out vehicles..

ALSO on the powerglide conversion , it is not hard to do. short the
present backup switch wires with a plug , or get in the tunnel , unplug , and
carefully scotchlock the wires (or better yet , make a shorted ) at the plug
that head to the front. hate to ruin any harness if not needed. the
neutral safety can be done at the front , if you have a donor car , remove the
short harness from the main harness plug that goes to the switch and ignition
, restore the retaining tabs on the terminals , and plug them into the
harness, the wire you removed to do this will plug into the other terminal of
the connector on the neutral /backup switch. find the backup wire (i do not
have the book in front of me) and do basically the same thing.
main thing is , you do NOT have to cut or butcher the harness to do the
conversion. i have done SEVERAL , on FC's and early cars. looking at the
harnesses you will not find any cut up mess such as i have seen.
i would also head to the nearest alignment shop after getting it back on
the road..
if you study the diagram in the shop manual , what i just wrote may become
easier to understand.
these type of jobs are why i save so many junk harness parts...they come
in handy often.
regards, tim colson
