Good thought, I guess I never had a badly worn cam. But observing the lift of
the push rod is certainly a way to be aware of a problem..

any motor that i have encountered with enough cam wear to show up in
running , you could just about see the rocker arm not moving as much as the
rest
of them. just went thru this on a "ran last year" motor i got running
again before tearing it down. watching rockers with motor running showed one
not moving as much as rest , without measuring it...that cam will now be a
hard luck trophy someday.
