....was in Buffalo.... Hom e of the original "Bite Me" boy.....

I thought it was a pretty good convention. We toured the Finger Lakes wine area.... Niagara Falls.....  Aircraft museum.....

Trying to remember the Pizza Place we walked to several times..... enjoyed the autocross.....

But then...... I have enjoyed every convention I have attended.....

I love CORSA conventions.....

When we were taking our grandchildren to the conventions, we ordered in
pizza for them and their friends to have in another room. Problem
solved also.

When my kids were younger, my wife Debbie would take our kids and the
Claypool kids to a movie and McDonalds during the dinner and part of the
program and show up for the last few awards. It kept the kids from
getting
bored and allowed us who actually like the banquet to enjoy without
having
to deal with kids.  I do think most banquets have a kids prices, but I
don't
think most kids want to sit through the whole thing.

To those who would rather discourage kids from attending, there is a
good reason for decline in membership. Those kids could be the next
generation's members.
Not to mention the fact that their parents tend to be younger adults
who
could also bring new blood into our society.

I could understand discouraging kids if our society were a lot younger
and the membership really liked to party.... but our membership is not.
Being more kid-friendly should be a no-brainer to me for the growth of
the society and for increasing participation.

John, I believe the saucer with the notch is the eccentric that drives the fuel
pump. It should get sandwiched between the parts to be held tight.

I would think the pulley should end up slightly proud of the crank end. You want
the inner end of the pulley to bottom out on the crank shoulder before the outer
end became flush with the crank end, so the bolt and washer can force it against
the crank shoulder. Otherwise the bolt and washer would bottom on the
crank?first, possibly leaving the pulley loose?(or only if tolerances were
infinitely tight, perfectly contact both crank and pulley simultaneously).?

thin metal around the crank and behind the rear cover of the engine. It did

crank key. What is this, and do I need to do anything about it? (ii) The
pulley is not flush with the end of the crankshaft. After I used the crank
bolt and washer to pull the pulley onto the crankshaft, I removed the bolt
to see if the pulley was properly installed and saw that the pulley was not
flush with the end of the crank. Is this correct? I cannot see a significant
gap between the engine and the pulley.>>

My son (almost 15) has attended the last 5 conventions with my wife and I and has enjoyed everyone of them. And he attends the banquets as well. This year he will be having Steak at the banquet (his choice). He also goes on some of the tours and loves seeing our beautiful country.

It was so bad, it wasn't etched memory bank?  I have no idea either why it
was so bad either other than it was the first convention I missed since
1994.

Ladies and gentlemen:

Is anybody twisting the arm of ANY prospective buyer for 5997?    It
doesn't matter what he paid for the car or who he got it from.   It's
nobody's business but his own.   The "cute" little comments about the
perceived net value of the car are kinda uncalled for.

The car is worth whatever the market will bear and that's that.   I
seriously doubt that someone who is willing to consider buying the
car is going to be troubled too much by a piece of worn weatherstrip
around the deck lid because whoever is willing to pay market value
for that car is going to know where to get NOS or repro.  For that
matter, I would imagine that Mr Bristow would be willing to pop a
piece of weatherstrip on the car just to stop the cutsie comments about it.

Let's remember the principle of supply & demand.   I recall how
thermistors used to cost about 15 bucks new in the box, and that was
from the vendors.    That same '69 ragtop likely initially sold for a
lot less than what it's worth today.  In a couple of years its value
is likely to rise still more.

...if the car sells and later on comes up for sale again with a
larger price tag, are people gonna be bitching about the cost then too?

tony..

I thought it was great. We (self) toured some of the city including the square where President McKinley was assassinated. And it was our first time seeing Niagra Falls. It was the first convention I attended since 1990 (Ontario,Ca.)

I will be attending every Corvair convention from here on out
