Hi Ted,

Let me preface by saying I'm not the chair - Dennis is - so I cannot make changes by fiat. However, as Dennis hasn't weighed in, I'll say that if I read another stupid offensive post in the next few days related to any of those threads, I'll just put that person on moderation. Dennis has done exactly that in the past. Apparently you are looking for public warnings too - you are aware that it's quite possible someone already has been warned. We do not simply warn and then block. We put people on moderation. If I had blocked all the people who contributed (in my opinion) to the irritating threads of the last couple days, you would have lost access to over 100 years of Corvair experience.

I have read essentially this post before. I will say that not all lists are as you describe, by any stretch, having been on quite a few myself. As was pointed out, a number of the posts you refer to are written by long time Corvair people who know one another. I'll also note that on the subject of the road trip, you find that part of the 'BS you have to sift through'. Others take it as the general conversation of people who have known each other for many years discussing their hobby. Personally, I find that thread *very* on topic, and started by someone who has been on VV for about 10 years or so. I'm likely to cut that person some slack, and yes, part of it's because he's been here for a long time. We also don't exert control over editorial content - if a thread has some legitimate purpose here and the message has additional content, then there's no foul.

I belong to a number of lists and VV is the only one that allows the sniping, BS and off-topic comments, the rest warn, then block. I will move on, as I suspect many of those new to Corvairs do.
