<VV> Pitman arm needle bearing?

That's something else in the system that has problems. Best way to
check it out is to disconnect the drag link from the Pitman arm and see
if things get easier, at least you'll know if it's the box or the
linkage.

I should ahve been clearer.  I meant the steering wheel seems to
require a lot of muscle to turn it.  More so than I remember.

It does take a LOT of force, for a good one. The way you install it is
to point the car straight ahead BEFORE you tighten the nut.

Speaking of Pitman Arm bushings--how free should the pitman arm rotate
on the bushing in the center (drag) link.  Jsut put a rebuilt steering
box in my convert and the steering seems to take a lot of force.

Just  some food for thought. Personally, the stock setup works rather
well, the  only caveat is that *&?^ %$#@ rubber bushing attaching the
relay rod  to the Pitman arm. That needs to be a precision needle
bearing sealed  setup, IMHO. The rest is plenty stiff enough.

John - Do you know if anyone has ever offered a sealed needle  bearing
replacement for this bushing? I have never seen one. Maybe  something
out of a
idler arm assembly?
