Keep in mind LNG is impractical for your typical automobile.

Sorry, but I misread the data and gave you the values of LNG rather
than
LPG. The numbers I gave in my previous post apply to liquified NATURAL
gas
and NOT LPG. But the concept is valid. You have to compare the price
per
energy value to make a valid COST comparison of different fuels (even
electricity)
Sorry about that, but at my age my fingers are quicker than my brain.

When you're comparing fuel costs you have to consider $ per heating
value,

NOT simply $ per gallon since different fuels contain different heating

values per gallon. If you check this website:

_http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_consumption_
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_consumption)

you'll see that a gallon of LPG has only 73% as much heating value as
regular gasoline, so if you're paying $4 per gallon of gasoline, the
equivalent
price for a gallon of LPG would be 73% x $4 = $2.92 for the same amount
of
LPG energy so a dollar less for a gallon of LPG is no big saving.

In my area when you buy propane (even for your barbeque) it is taxed
as
gasoline. I am convinced and almost ready to make my Chevy Suburban a
dual
fuel vehicle. Natural gas as well as gasoline at a cost of about
$5000
(or
the cost of about 1200 gallons of gas at the California pricing)
Right
now
the cost of the CNG comparable to a gallon of gasoline is a savings
of $1
per
gallon.
