Since your plan is to drive the Corvair and the Jeep, and use the tow 
bar only if the Corvair fails to make the distance, you'll be fine.

The Jeep should be a perfectly suitable tow vehicle for such a happenstance.

On the other hand, the Corvair will make a lousy tow vehicle if the Jeep 
fails to make the distance. <grin!>

A Powerglide Corvair needs no special steps other than to stop every 100 
miles or two hours to start the engine and engage the transmission, to 
more fully circulate the fluid.
