One of the the "super cars" of the day, the Mercedes 300SL had swing axle rear 
suspension. It was produced from 1952 through 1963, Funny that Ralph Nader left 
that out of his book?

Nobody is going to argue that SA is better than MLRS.

However, I would argue that the SA was perfectly adequate by the standards
of the day, as the car was originally conceived.  I really doubt that anyone
at GM looked at a '60 80hp/PG and thought "SPORTS CAR!"

I also kind of doubt that anyone at GM knew about the contents of some book
by an obscure lawyer.  But I'll leave that one to the conspiracy
enthusiasts.
