<VV> WINDSHIELD STORAGE

I got lucky and found a good used windshield at a self serve junkyard for my '63 Rampside. This for me will be a "spare" part (not looking forward to the day I might actually need it). What is the safest way for me to store this part? Should it be kept in a vertical position or horizontal? Needless to say, I am hoping to have this item for many birthdays.
