I believe it's not only the threads that are different, the depth of the
boss is different as well....

Are you going to mention the little thing about the threads are 
different from the snap switch sending unit and the thermistor sending 
unit used with a gage? All right heads on all engines (OK, 61 to 69) and 
all engines except 140s and turbos have the same threads in the left 
head (because they are the SAME head with balance tube plumbing pressed 
in differently). Turbos and 140s have different threads in the left 
head. And turbo heads are different left to right due to the oil return 
pipe hole in the right head.

So, if a 140 was originally in a Monza, does it still have the "other" 
thread in the left head? Monzas do not have a gage.
