Dave,

 It is my opinion that this was a oil bath air cleaner that they cut off the
horn. At the point in the photo where it is oval is where it becomes round
for the bath rubber connector.

Take a look at this eBay listing for a nice red/red '66 LA-built Corsa Turbo
Convert.  Check out the engine pictures.  I've never seen an air cleaner
like this - any ideas? It's sort of like the oil-bath option, but not the
same air horn.  Anyone know the car?
