<VV> Fwd: 1962 rear springs.

It should be realized that heavier rear springs [that is springs that require a greater load to compress them a given distance, usually expressed in pounds per inch] are primarily designed to increase load carrying capacity. When used in conjunction with an anti sway / roll bar they will make the vehicle corner with less body roll. They are not likely to increase the vehicle's ability to generate higher lateral acceleration rates ... especially on undulating or washboard surfaces. In fact, longer springs will keep the tire in more constant contact with the road surface. Raising the rear spring rate [more pounds per inch] on a Corvair will increase the tendency towards oversteer.

Unless you intend to make a real 'workhorse' out of this vehicle by using it to carry heavy loads you will be better of with the lighter [less pounds per inch] and longer springs.
