<VV> oil pressure readings

i would start by trying a mechanical gauge at the oil filter.
i use the adapta bolt and a good gauge for the first few hours on my new  
motors. I like to run the pump with a drill , watching the gauge as i turn 
the  motor over slowly. I am looking for NO  severe  variation in pressure  as 
i turn the motor over by hand. then i install the distributor and fire it  
up.
