<VV> Late Model Front Shock Posibility

Honestly I can't remember for sure (maybe somebody can confirm or deny) but it seems to me that I used 1953 Cadillac front shocks for my Crown car.  I installed them maybe 40 years ago.  Although it doesn't seem possible, they are still on the car and perform beautifully. (stock HD springs cut one turn and the cars weighs 2485 with 48% on the front)
