The 13" factory wire wheel covers on my '69 do not make any noise. They are just
heavy unsprungweight

Subject: <VV> wire hubcap advice needed (noisy hubcaps)

Hello folks,

I believe I'm not back from my hiatus and ready to get to work on the
Corvairs so it's time to start planning.

Top priority this spring is to get the 62 PG coupe built for dad to drive
this summer. Dad loves wire wheels and I know he'd really like to have wire
hubcaps on the Corvair he is going to drive but he had a bad experience
with them and I don't want to repeat it.
In 1987 Dad bought a new Caprice wagon with wire hubcaps he found very
attractive, but within the first year or two the hubcaps started making
noise. I actually remember hearing the noise myself, kinda sounded like
sleet on a tin roof. Anyway Dad hates noisy wheels, tires, and exhaust so
this pretty much drove him nuts and caused him to avoid wire hubcaps ever
since.

Presently I have two options for wheels on Dads car. I have the factory
13" steel wheels and a set of 14" 4 lug steel wheels off a Chevy II. I'm
not worried about the car being original so basically any 13 or 14 inch set
of wire hubcaps that will fit chevy wheels are an option. Can anyone
recommend some wire hubcaps that will hold up and stay quiet? I'm trying
to keep the budget low, but if necessary I think I'd spend a bit to get dad
the look he'd really like.

Thanks for any help,

-
