Hi Gary,
So long as the compressor will fit around the piston/rings it should be fine. I have a Craftsman compressor I have had for 30+ years (I think I use it maybe once every couple of years). Check E(vil) Bay-type in "Piston Ring Compressor" and you will get pages of them. Not exactly a tool that sees much wear. Good luck.
