<VV> strage thing with my 66 Corsa

Hi to all,

I passed inspection on yesterday, go it licensed today. Everything fine so far.
Drove to work this morning - fine. Got back into the car after work, it started right up, backed out of the parking lot, put in the first gear, second .... engine died while driving. Wont start after that.
I waited for about 15 minutes tried it again: starts right up, drives in first, as soon you shift into second engine shuts down.

Now I am back from a 30 minute foot walk and I do hope that any of you Corvair specialists  has an idea of what is wrong with my baby.
