Yeow!
What a crazy day at the track.
Yesterday I got my time with a blown engine. Early this morning we were at the track working to drop my engine and plug in the backup motor which is my older lower compression one. It actually went well especially well with the help of two of the best pit monkeys in the business. Paul Fox and Barry Ellison. These guys deserve an award for exceptional work and dedication work. I have watched them work on eveyones car at one time or another and today It was my car.
It is running and I will race tomorrow.
Hard luck guy Al Wicht Made it to the track but I don't think he will be able to run. We'll see.
Looks like Eddie Meadows will not run as he has starting issues.
Bob Coffin had some problems with his engine but, I think he has it cured.
Warren LeVeque changed out his engine for the back up turbo. We'll see how that goes.
David Clemens has the record for number of tows to the pits.He is also the only one so far to have contact on track. A Jag driver came down on him and actually hit him on the right front. Minor damage to a car that has seen way more!
Norm Latulippe has a belt throwing problem. He's gone through eight I think.
The Stinger James Reeve is driving has been throwing oil on the header and smoking on track
In fact we had a funny moment at the big drivers meeting this afternoon.
Someone in the crowd complained about the blue Corvair smoking. Ken Fengler who was conducting the meeting said, It's normal, next question. It got a big laugh.
Mike Levine blew his clutch and was putting it back together as we left. We had a late afternoon thunder shower and Mike didn't miss a beat, sitting in the wet pavement beavering away! The ThunderVair will live again.
That's just some of the stuff going on today so, who knows what tomorrow will bring.
I'm beat as usual but, a good nights sleep and I will hit it again tomorrow.
