The Corvair alternator runs counter clockwise and if you bought the alternator at local store it probably has the wrong pulley/fan. The fan should be pushing air away from the alternator, not trying to scoop it in. The air is supposed to be sucked in the back side and flung outward at the belt end. Clark Hartzel
