I'm planning on installing a 4spd in my newly acquired cave car. ('60)  I have all the parts (thanks Jeff!!) but I need to know how much to "notch" the crossmember.  I'm going to take it to the welding shop just up the road.  (And any other info on the "pitfalls" of such an installation would be good, too.)
