Also note the high temp switch (575 °F) has fine threads. The normal 
switch has coarse threads. This is how you tell them apart without 
testing in an oven...

You could have overheated the engine. It is very easy to do with a 
working turbo. Just keep your foot in it for a few minutes, like 
climbing a mountain in high gear! Usually you hear more pinging as 
another tell-tale. A working temp gauge is very nice to have on a turbo.
