<VV> IMHO : New Car Black Boxes-NO CORVAIR

I guess if you have stuff to hide, you don't want anyone to be watching ?

Sure, some stuff you just don't want to share, but isn't that the price we
pay?

I wish I had the 'big brother' when a Honda driven by a cellphone wielding
woman zipped past me in my Spyder convert.

By the time the cop turned around to see who had set off his radar 'beep',
she had ducked behind a semi, and guess who(m) he saw ?

Yep, me, and it cost me $370 (1st offense) !

I knew the Spyder looks like it's doing 90 at the curb, so I was
cruise-controlled at 67 (which ticked off the woman in the Honda)

In any state they have to 'witness' you speeding, so is GPS a valid witness?

Red light cameras have been having trouble for that reason, so will this
fare any better/worse?

I think the reason I never got a ticket before is that I usually have no
front plate for radar to reflect back, and I was driving a rental with a
front plate?

Next time, I take the front plates off when cruising the insterstate
'revenue roads' !

And what if said insurance company were to divulge that info to police?
I have heard of GPS company's selling there info to police departments in
the past.
Big brother is watching like it or not. And to me it's reason for concern.

The presence of the "Black Box" doesn't concern me. It should be clarified
that the ownership of the data is the same as the ownership of the car. If
you  crash your car and don't want anybody to know the data, keep ownership
of the  car. If you allow the Insurance Company to pay you for the car -
They would own  the data - and maybe stick it to you too. That is, unless
the
"Black Box"  somehow came to grief - say with a Sawzall or pick-axe. A
Hydraulic press  would likely perform the same feat. - Seth

Probably the wave of the future, whether we like it or   not.  It's not
really a big deal since most automobiles already   are equipped with "black
