<VV> WHO IS DOING CORVAIR RESEARCH?

WHAT IS RESEARCH?
As I see it, there are two kinds of research. There is the investigation,
design, development, and documentation of new ideas for improving the
Corvair. Examples of these include Fuel Injection, electronic and
distributorless ignition systems (DIS), and roller camshafts. Most of these concepts get
publicized and discussed.
Then there is back-dated research. This might involve investigations into
ideas, designs, methods, and products that were used to develop the Corvair
into the vehicles GM sold that we have and are familiar with. But who
today is working on researching and documenting these features? Is anybody
besides Dave Newell doing this?
CURRENT BACK-DATA RESEARCH
Maybe you might think everything that needs to be known has already been
investigated and discovered. Granted that most large and significant
questions have been answered, so those questions remaining are less important and
may seem to be not worth the effort. But still the questions remain
unresolved. And who if anyone, is working on investigating these unknowns and
publicizing their findings?
SOME EXAMPLES OF UNKNOWNS
Design concepts and features that deviate from standard baseline work
Designs tailored to specific applications.
Engineering data in general
Procedures and documents for engine transmission and differential
assembly
Gauging and measuring equipment used for engine, transmission and
differential assembly
Methods used to coordinate production of engine parts to schedule of
engine types. (E.g., types of cylinder heads to match engine types. Or
carburetor types to engines.)
Inspection and test procedures for sub assembly acceptance.
Is anybody working on any of these?
Regards,
Bob Helt
