[Cash Case]

OK-  Turns out that it was indeed a case of the shift ball popping out 
of it's enclosure in the tunnel pan.  The shim that are suppose to hold 
t he shift rod inside the shift tube were gone.  Probably have been for 
decades.   I'll look in  the tech guide to see what worlks best.
