Subject: <VV> Powerglide Low Servo Piston Ring

Oh Wise Ones,

I am in the midst of my first PG rebuild. The trans I'm overhauling is a
low mileage unit that had sat for 40 or so years. I'm going through the kit
of new gaskets and seals and there are few that I don't recognize (or find
on the trans I'm tearing down).

My first of what may be many questions is the Piston Ring currently on the
Low Servo is metal, while what appears to be the replacement is rubber.
Should I leave what appears to be a flawless original in place or replace
with the rubber?

Much obliged,
--
