Even the Briggs & Stratton plant in Murray (3.9 to 9.9 hp engines,
except for racing engines) has just one line of flat head engines and 11
lines of overhead valve engines. In 24 hours the Murray plant produces
about 2,600 engines in the winter and spring. Somewhat less in the
summer and fall.

Checker offered the old Continental Red Seal flathead six in their cars until 1965, but that engine was available with overhead valves as an option during the Fifties and Sixties. From 1965 on they substituted Chevy OHV sixes and V8s.
