Dick was in Richmond, CA. When I was in Santa Clara, I needed a set of rod
bearings on a Saturday afternoon. Mel was closed, so I called Dick and he
had what I needed. I went to his shop and picked up what I needed and
assembled the engine Saturday evening and Sunday.

Subject: <VV> valve seats

about 25 years ago came across a guy named dick card (san francisco area)
who told me about oversized seats for a 140. ordered 2 sets from well-tite
and cooled them with dry ice and heated the heads and installed. worked
great with many runs using 25# of boost. don't forget that as the hp ratings
went up on porsche so did their valve seat failures. they tried the whale
taile and lots of oil but the problems persisted until they went to water
cooled heads. on the new engine steve goodman went thru the heads and by
limiting the boost to 15# i don't think there will be a problem-mike mann
