I have been told that Fisher Body cut the opening for the evaporator out with a cutting torch- and that is the way to tell....

Hi guys, I have a question on factory A/C installations.  Does the presence of a Frigidaire compressor, built-in vents in the dash (rectangular in upper center, balls on each end), and five-knob temperature control for heat and A/C combined, always indicate a factory C64 air conditioning installation? Or is it possible that the dealer unit (I don't have the option number, but I know Chevy has a code for dealer-installed A/C) would have the same features?

I'm trying to determine if my car's A/C is factory or dealer installed.  It has ALL of the features mentioned above, but with one issue.  According to what I know, tinted glass was fitted on all GM's factory A/C installations.  My '66 Monza Sport Sedan has an aftermarket tinted windshield, and what I'm sure is original, but clear (non-tinted) "Safety LOF Plate" side and rear glass.

Thanks...Bill Hershkowitz 66 Monza Sport Sedan 110 PG A/C
