 Yeah, and you'd have a hot manifold the rest of the time. So, how is this better than two or four 1 bbls?

Yes....just plumb a tube from each manifold to opposite sides of the heat box 
under the plenum. This is not a new concept....V W used this quite successfully 
with the center mounted carb on their air cooled engines. 
To show you how effective it was, when the tube would plug with carbon the 
engine would barely run due to carb ice issues.
