Subject: <VV> "Collectible Automobile" reader disses Corvair!

The latest (April 2013) issue of "Collectible Automobile" magazine has a "Collectible Comment" (i.e. letter to the editor)  singing the praises of his parents' then-new 1961 Dodge Lancer and bashing his 1960 Corvair 500 four door that he felt paled in comparison.  As to the Corvair, he said; "From the first day, I disliked that car.  The doors were lined with what appeared to be painted cardboard.  The seats seemed to be constructed so as to enrich back surgeons.  The shift lever was curved in such a way as to overlap the front seat.  My folks' Lancer had an efficient automatic transmission and a nice radio all of which my Corvair lacked."  He neglected to mention that if he hadn't been so damn cheap he could have had an automatic transmission and a radio in his Corvair and even opted for a 700 or, if he'd waited to purchase the Corvair until at least May of 1960, a Monza.  He goes on to say; "The Corvair would go on to suck money out of my almost-empty pockets...."
