Another thing to be careful with is to not lay your trouble light on the jute padding under the carpet.  I had a black spot and smoke in very short time while working with carpet pulled back, also the sparks from your angle grinder will set it off.  Fortunately I have a bucket of water close by.  This can happen so fast.  Ken Clark
