<VV> fuel pump pressure?

Tim,

That big spring is the ONLY object in the fuel pump that creates fuel
pressure. The button valves are just check valves to prevent reverse flow
of the fuel between chambers.

John Moody aka Mr. Bent Wrench, wrote a great article explaining the fuel
pump operation (for all cars using typical mechanical pump) that was
published in Skinned Knuckles and Corsa a few years back. A picture and
explanation can be found here:
http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public/535.cfm From the picture, you can
see the only thing exerting pressure on the fuel to go out the outlet is
the big fat spring pushing on the diaphragm.

wondering if the spring has that much to do with actual pressure?
I would think those button valves do more for pressure?
