I must be reading something wrong.

You say one could not have a gas heater AND a radio?

And, you MUST have a radio to have factory air conditioning?

For others reading, this is an early discussion. Lates are very different.
And, factory AC FCs are very rare! ggg

This is not correct. The Gas Heater diffuser box and control are designed
to mount under the dash in the space otherwise occupied by the radio box,
whereas the factory A/C diffuser box and control require a radio box for
mounting, so you will have a problem trying to install both in the same
car. At the very least you will have to devise a new method to control
both units and diffuse the air.

the selenium rectifier is an issue with the gas heater. You may consider
upgrading the charging system to an alternator.
