Stephen, cranking for extended periods is hard on old electrical
systems And not needed, I would suggest pulling plugs, oil misting the
cylinders, cranking until you have oil pressure, no longer than 10 to
15 seconds, and reinstalling plugs.

I use a syringe to put some fuel in thru the vents, it dribbles down
into the float bowl, 10 syringe fills per carb, then start the car,
fuel should get to the pump and carbs by the time what you put in runs
out if everything is working right.

Subject: <VV> Starting a Corvair That Has Been Sitting
VVers:

Next weekend, weather permitting, I am going to start a Corvair that has
been sitting for almost two years. The car is in good shape and ran
fine when it was parked, so I am hoping there aren't a ton of problems.

My plan is to roll it out into the sun, change the oil and filter, put a
charge on it even though the battery is ok, and then try for the start.
Is there anything else I should do before or in conjunction with this?

Thanks in advance.
