The answer to your question is 'yes.'

The rubber bumpers on the quarter panels started at the beginning of 
production and continued through the 1962 mode year, and perhaps into 
1963 as well.  Then, either in mid-year 1963 or at the beginning of 
the 1964 model year, the rubber bumpers were eliminated in favor of 
revised hinges.
