There is a difference in resistance in the circuit. The most common is one
bulb is burnt out on one side, so the one bulb makes the flasher flash
faster.

If this is not the case, I would look for ground issues at the sockets
first. Remember there are the signal bulbs inside, too.

I had this happen to my 62 Coupe, and it was a problem between the socket
and housing for the rear tail lights. I drilled a small screw in the joint
and ran a screw in to provide continuity.

Some of these issues are sometimes hard to trace don. If you have mystery
gremlins, maybe someone else will respond with a similar problem,
otherwise, look for ground issues first, then work back thru the system
till you find the high resistane spot.
