<VV> Snap rings for lifters

Seth, the only purpose for any type of retainer is to keep the lifter together until it is installed. Once in place the lifter stays together due to the preload you put when you adjust the lifters. So even if a wire falls out, it causes no problems with the engine, only for the mechanic the next time the engine is taken apart. You could install snap rings, I have seen them, they should stay in place regardless if the snap ring fits in the groove as they only have a load on them out of the engine and a snap ring applies more force against the groove by virtue of its design. But, they are not needed. Mark Durham Hauser Idaho
