If you *never* drive in freezing/frozen precipitation, I really like BFG's gForce COMP2. They are great wet and dry.

Frank: I have. Has to be in 1963-65 time frame on Woodward Ave north of
Birmingham MI. It was a black over red Spyder convertible pulled off on to
the well cared for island separating the 8 lanes divide. There were still
two couples standing around. Were is a cell phone when you need one? Oh,
wait! They weren't going to be invented for another 40 years!

Donna Mae Mims also told the story of finding out her Yenko Stinger had
failed a motor mount. She discovered it at a race when she looked in her
mirror and saw car was on fire...! She said she knew something had happened
when she heard a loud noise and car jerked. Broke a fuel line it did. She
stopped at a corner workers station and they put it out. How's that for a
way to not finish a race?!

Historically Yours,
James Rice

I have never seen a Corvair engine rear mount fail and drop the rear of the
engine on the road. All of these have fail safe bolts/brackets,etc to keep
the engine from falling out. The engine will droop with a failed mount, but
you can still drive the car. Many are on the road this way!

The earlies with the engine dragging the ground had the castle nut fall
off. Or lates when a person replaced the locking nuts with regular nuts and
they loosened and fell off. The mounts were still in the car, just the
engine was no longer bolted to them.
