<VV> 140 PG swap complete - PG fluid leak question

My 140 PG swap is complete (sort of)

When I first pulled the torque converter out, there was no fluid loss, possibly because it sat so long?

The 140 ran pretty well after a bit of tweaking the fuel pump, among other things, but a bit of oil from the bellhousing.

After installing the engine to car with the PG, we had to pull it out again for a damaged rear main seal.

When we separated the bellhousing from the diff, the TC leaked trans fluid profusely.

Question : Is this because running the engine pumped the empty TC full and opening it up caused it all to spill out (i.e. ""normal")?

Or was something damaged causing it to rupture, or something like that?

Thanks for any insights ...

Charlie

Jack Dempsey replaced the rear end in the Phoenix just prior to the '91 convention at Hot Air Enterprises. Jack did indeed push it on his normal test drive back through the local golf course. He told me that it oversteered a bit, but handled well.
