<VV> old gas

Ken,
I'd try it. You  won't it any harm. If the carbs are gummed up putting fresh gas in the tank won't help any more than old gas. Either way you'll most likely end up cleaning the carbs. However if you fill the carbs with gas and let it sit for a day or 2 sometimes they'll clear themselves. I think the gas softens the gum and the carbs will start working with out tearing them down.

Don't use that gas for anything except cleaning dirty parts or weed killer.
Get it out of the tank and blow your lines. Am presuming you have turned this engine with the plugs out and squrted oil in all six holes.
