I fail to see why true Corvair guys - who have presumably gone over their  
cars thoroughly - and in most cases, owned them for years, AND would carry a 
few  parts back-ups, would be apprehensive about driving their cars on 
trips of ANY  distance.  The only time I ever had a Corvair let me down - and I 
have  owned at least 10, was when my '65 Corsa 140 dropped a valve seat in 
Nowhere  Florida. (around Cross City and Chiefland - if you want to Mapquest  
that one).  Had to catch a Greyhound.  Of course, that was in the  '70's.
