<VV> Fisher Body Tag "Sequence Number" Compared to VIN

OK, my VIN says they made 277,816 Corvairs at that plant that year, and
14244 on the body tag.

So, what does the number 14244 on the body tag mean, the # of Corsas built?

Charlie

OK the VIN number is how many Corvairs they made at that plant that year of
all kinds.

OK, this is more complicated than it was supposed to be when I started (like
the engine code email thread was!)

Does the "body sequence number" 14244 (from Fisher Body Tag for my 1965
Corsa Coupe) mean that "10737W277816" (from that car's "VIN" tag) is the
14,244th Corsa (of 28,544 total) built that year, or is it the 14,244th
Corsa <<coupe>> of 20,291 coupes built that year?

Does "277816" (from the VIN) means that Chevy made 277,816 cars (of all
kinds), or 277,816 Corvairs (of all kinds)?

Or do these mean anything like that at all?

Charlie

Cars and light truck manufactured before 1969 DO NOT have Vehicle
Identification Numbers (VIN), but only manufacturing sequence numbers
sometimes called serial numbers. That said on the ID plate on the left rear
sub frame is the identification plate for the car. It contains the car
manufacturer, body style, model year of manufacture, assembly plant
location, assembly line sequence number - in that order.

The Fisher body identification plate is located on the right side of the
rear sub frame rail. It contains the month and week of body
manufacture, - sixth month, second week ***** E is unknown to me
***** model year - body style 65-737 ***** body plant - Warren, MI
**** Corsa Coupe body sequence number - 14244

Trim and paint code 713 - black vinyl Y-Y crocus yellow (top and bottom)

Accessory codes 1W- shaded windshield only 2LS- 4-sp, rear antenna
3C- convenience group 4PU- padded dash, spare tire lock 5Y-delux seat
belts
Convenience group consist of: two speed wipers with washer, inside
day/night rear view mirror, driver's side outside mirror.

Hope that helps.
