Hello Folks,

I have made a write-up of sorts and posted a set of photos of the
Corvair powered tracked vehicle that was at first for sale on the UP
Craigslist, but is now listed on eBay. If interested, please go to the
Corvair Center forum and read all about it:

It is my conclusion that this is not a CL-91 Dynatrack, nor is it a
CL-70 RAT. Perhaps it was built by Canadair as a prototype before
developing the CL-91. It may also be a prototype built by another
company that was trying to get into the light military vehicle
business. It was said that there were 22 different vehicles submitted
to the Army for testing prior to Canadair being awarded the contract to
build what became known as the XM-571. I have a theory that this
vehicle was sold as surplus or for scrap back in the mid-late 60's,
without the special mil-spec Corvair engine it probably had. The
purchasers simply sourced a junkyard engine, cut down the superstructure
and cobbled together the unit that exists now. The absence of any
identification plate may be related to this.

If anyone from this list is bidding on this and wins it, I could offer
some help with logistics and perhaps storage for a time, if needed.
