Smitty Says; Been private posting a newbie concerning honing and kitting an Early rear cylinder. He seemed to be over awed by pulling the axle to gain access to the cylinder mounting bolts. He was advised to do the hone job by a vendor, by cutting off the piston retaining ears on the backing plate. In the event of a locked up bearing where the axle screws itself out from under the car, there would be a total loss of brakes when the pistons pop out. Am I being paranoid when I say that is too much of a gamble. I feel I should strongly advise him to do it the right way.
